Fudan University Intelligent Medicine Institute and Fudan Science and Technology Innovation Hold Exchange Forum to Explore Pathways for Industrializing Cutting-Edge Technology

On the morning of September 11, 2025, an exchange forum aimed at bridging top-tier academic research and industrial capital was successfully held at the Westbund Star Center in Xuhui District. A delegation led by Professor Roland Eils, Executive Director of the Fudan University Intelligent Medicine Institute (IMI) and Fellow of the German National Academy of Sciences, visited Fudan Science and Technology Innovation. Together with representatives from Fudan Science and Technology Innovation, Furong Investment, and other stakeholders, they engaged in in-depth discussions on the transformation and industrialization of advanced intelligent medical technologies.

The forum brought together distinguished guests from both academia and the investment community. The Intelligent Medicine Institute was represented by its Executive Director, Professor Roland Eils, Fellow of the German National Academy of Sciences, and Professor Irina Lehmann, Director of the Molecular Epidemiology Department at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Also in attendance was Professor Lei Gu from the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research. The investment side was represented by Ms. Chu Xiaojia, Deputy General Manager of the Fudan Science and Technology Innovation Fund, and Ms. Shang Jing, General Manager of Furong Investment, along with their professional teams.

The agenda was compact and productive. First, Professor Roland Eils, on behalf of the Intelligent Medicine Institute, provided a detailed introduction to the institute's organizational structure,forward-looking research directions, and its strategic plans and vision for the future industrialization of scientific research outcomes. As the founding director of the Digital Health Center at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Professor Eils possesses extensive experience in translating digital health technologies from research to application. His presentation provided a clear blueprint for potential collaboration.

Subsequently, Ms. Chu Xiaojia, Deputy General Manager of Fudan Science and Technology Innovation, introduced the experts to the operational model, investment philosophy, and successful case studies in technology transfer of Fudan Science and Technology Innovation. As an investment platform focused on early-stage technological innovation, Fudan Science and Technology Innovation is dedicated to discovering and empowering disruptive technologies originating from universities, facilitating their journey to the market.

During the exchange session, participants engaged in lively discussions surrounding the application prospects of artificial intelligence and big data in areas such as precision medicine and new drug development, as well as how to build an efficient industry-academia-research-investment collaboration mechanism. Both sides agreed that combining the top-tier research capabilities of the Intelligent Medicine Institute with the capital operation and industrial incubation capabilities of Fudan Science and Technology Innovation would significantly accelerate the translation of cutting-edge medical technologies, providing innovative solutions to address major health challenges.

The successful hosting of this forum marks a solid step forward for the Fudan University Intelligent Medicine Institute in exploring the industrialization of scientific and technological achievements. It also lays a good foundation for Fudan Science and Technology Innovation to identify future star projects in the healthcare sector.
