National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine Delegation Visits Intelligent Medicine Institute, Exploring New Opportunities for Collaboration in the Field of Intelligent Medicine

On the afternoon of October 23, 2025, a delegation from the National University of Singapore (NUS) Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, led by Dean Professor Chong Yap Seng, visited the Fudan University Institute of Intelligent Medicine. The two sides held in-depth exchanges on cutting-edge research, platform development, and future collaboration directions in the field of Intelligent Medicine, establishing a significant bridge for synergistic development in the interdisciplinary field of medicine and artificial intelligence between the two universities.

Visit and Introduction: Comprehensive Display of Intelligent Medicine Research Capabilities

The exchange began with a visit to the Institute, guided by Professor Liu Lei, Executive Vice Dean of IMI. The delegation gained an initial yet clear understanding of the Institute's layout in Intelligent Medicine by learning about its current research environment, hardware facilities, and team development. Following the tour, the introduction session was co-chaired by Professor Roland Eils, Executive Dean, and Professor Liu Lei, Executive Vice Dean of IMI. The two professors elaborated on the Institute's establishment background, disciplinary positioning, core research directions, scientific achievements, and international cooperation network. They highlighted breakthroughs and progress in areas such as the integration of artificial intelligence and clinical medicine, and the development of precision medicine technologies, fully demonstrating Fudan University's robust scientific research strength and innovation potential in the field of Intelligent Medicine. Concurrently, the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine presented their faculty expertise, research capabilities, hardware facilities, and campus environment through a promotional video.

Exploring Collaboration: Focusing on New Pathways for Multi-Domain Synergistic Development

In the final session on exploring collaboration opportunities, both sides engaged in lively discussions regarding potential cooperation directions. Concerning joint research areas, the attending experts unanimously agreed that there is broad scope for collaboration in the application of AI in disease diagnosis and drug discovery, as well as the innovation and implementation of digital health technologies. This could be realized through joint projects and other forms to integrate the respective strengths and resources of both institutions, working together to tackle key scientific challenges within the field.

Professor Chong Yap Seng, Dean of the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, expressed high appreciation for the scientific research achievements and platform development at IMI. He stated that this visit established a direct and in-depth communication channel between the two schools and expressed his expectation that, starting from this exchange, substantive cooperation in scientific research and education would be promoted, jointly contributing to the global development of Intelligent Medicine. Professor Roland Eils, Executive Dean of IMI, also remarked that the National University of Singapore holds significant international influence in the medical field, and both sides exhibit high compatibility across multiple research directions.
