On June 9, Professor Roland Eils from Fudan University’s Intelligent Medicine Institute and Member of the German National Academy of Sciences (Leopoldina), led a delegation to visit the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (SAIRI), accompanied by Professor Liu Lei, Executive Vice Dean of the institute. The two sides held in-depth discussions on topics including "AI + Healthcare", transformation of innovative achievements, high-level talent recruitment, and deepening international collaboration.

Professor Roland Eils and his delegation visited the exhibition hall of the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (SAIRI), where they gained a detailed understanding of its latest achievements and strategic plans in core AI technology R&D, applied innovations, and industrial empowerment. They focused on SAIRI’s innovative outcomes in intelligent healthcare, smart elderly care, and other related fields, speaking highly of its development model and industrial incubation capabilities.

During the symposium, Professor Roland Eils presented Germany's cutting-edge research and clinical practices in biomedical big data, computational life sciences, and precision medicine. He emphasized that the deep integration of artificial intelligence with healthcare will facilitate more efficient translation of fundamental biomedical research into clinical practice. Professor Eils expressed his anticipation for future collaboration with the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Research Institute and global AI centers of excellence, building upon the foundation of Fudan University's Intelligent Medicine Institute, to jointly advance the development of frontier technologies and their medical applications.

The participating representatives from both sides engaged in enthusiastic discussions on topics of mutual interest. Key discussion points focused on:
The deep integration of cutting-edge AI technologies with biomedical research,
Joint interdisciplinary research projects in AI medicine,
High-level talent exchange programs,
Promoting Sino-German industry-academia-research collaborative innovation.
The parties also explored preparatory work for hosting the "International AI Translational Medicine Youth Elite Forum" during the 2025 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC).
This visit has laid a solid foundation for future high-level collaboration between Fudan University's Intelligent Medicine Institute, Shanghai AI Research Institute, and global AI centers of excellence in the fields of smart healthcare and translational medicine.
